What will you get from bidding thousands of dollars just to dine with Warren Buffett?

Posted on August 30th, 2009 by admin

what do they have on the menu?

Steak will be on the menu but the menu selections are not the point.

The world’s second-richest person is auctioning lunch for a 10th straight year to benefit the Glide Foundation, a nonprofit in San Francisco’s Tenderloin district that offers housing, job training, health and child care, and meals for the poor.

As in recent years, the auction winner and up to seven friends may dine with Buffett at the Smith & Wollensky steakhouse in New York. Buffett began donating lunches after his first wife Susan introduced him to Glide. Susan Buffett died in 2004.

"I would hope the same event is going to happen, but I’m not sure it’s going to," the Rev. Cecil Williams, who founded Glide and leads its affiliated church, said in an interview. "But it is a good time for people to engage in compassion."

Williams, 79, said he last spoke a week ago with Buffett, who is a year younger. "He laughs a lot with me, and I like that," he said. "He’s a very good man, he’s just good."

Granite City or Hard Rock Cafe?

Posted on August 30th, 2009 by admin

I’ve never been to Granite City restaurant/bar. But it looks interesting. It’s been years since I’ve been to Hard Rock Cafe. Which one should I dine at?

I have never heard of Granite City. We did go to the Hard Rock Cafe in Reno, NV. It was fun. Food was passable. I did get a Whoopi Goldberg Tee there – that was my hightlight. The tee was / is pretty cool!

Where should you dine should be your question! Olive Garden!!!!!

Where’s a good bar to work at in Scottsdale, AZ?

Posted on August 30th, 2009 by admin

I just moved to Arizona. Where is a busy place to work? I prefer to work at more sports bar type places rather then fine dining. Got any suggestions? Also does Arizona have liquor certification that you need?

Scottsdale is definitely a great place to live and has a good nighlife, there are a ton of Sports Bars there too. Look at an online yelow pages, you can see a list of bars that could be an option. I would just go and apply to as many as possible from there! Some places that are nice are Bar North or Joes Place both on Scottsdale Rd : >

What do you think the best Point-of-Sale system is for a small Dine-in Restaurant business?

Posted on August 30th, 2009 by admin

Nick, I do agree with Sea above. The restaurant industry encounters many unique situations that your credit card merchant must effortlessly be able to manage.
Tips can be added after authorization occurs
A bill from the bar can easily be added to ones dinner bill for a simple single transaction
Tracking of transaction activity and tips by a tracking number or name.
Creation of a large range of reports and documentation that will make it easier to track your business activity.
I use the VX570 with Vivo Pay(Designed to provide easy, convenient, and safe transaction in limited space counter environments such as quick service restaurants (QSR)
It works well , with no problems. Just take a look at the different terminal types to see what you need for your diner.
Good luck!

How to avoid or spot Dine-and-Dash customers.?

Posted on August 30th, 2009 by admin

I am a server. It does not happen often but sometimes I get customers who dine-and-dash. I am required to pay the bill from my tips. How do I avoid or spot dine-and-dash customers?

If you even have to ask this question I highly recommend getting into fine dining.

The money is WAYYY better and if someone does leave without signing their credit card receipt (or the wrong copy), you can always call the number they used to make their reservation.

Artists who did images of hand tools?

Posted on August 30th, 2009 by admin

I’m looking for some artists who did works featuring hand tools, like the work of Jim Dine. I don’t need images in that style, just any artist who uses images of hand tools in his work.

Any help appreciated.

I found some nice work when I Google Image searched "Tromp L’oil Tools" here’s some I liked:

You can run a search on Google Images & probably get a lot more results.

Hope this helped!

Prank Call: Two Chinese Restaurants Talk to One Another

Posted on August 29th, 2009 by admin

Through the miracle of three-way calling, someone has cleverly, and hysterically, called up one Chinese restaurant, placed an order, put them on hold, called up a 2nd Chinese restaurant, and then connected all three lines. Pretty funny stuff!
