Cool places to dine in the Miami area?

Posted on November 25th, 2009 by admin

I am 18 and my aunt wanted to take me out for a going away dinner before I go to college. I am looking for a cool place to eat. Examples of cool would be Planet Hollywood and Rainforest Cafe. It has to be a family friendly place because joining us are a four year old and a two year old. I was thinking about Taverna Opa but it is too noisy and my brother (a picky eater) does not really have anything he can eat there. I prefer an Italian cuisine, and don’t like Chinese and Japanese food. Any ideas? Location can range from Homestead to Boca.

Chima in Fort Lauderdale. Hard Rock in Hollywood. Lots on Lincoln Road in Miami, and along the "strip" in South Beach.

What should my food cost % be in a casino buffet?

Posted on November 25th, 2009 by admin

Snack Bar %?
Fine Dining%?
I’m the purchasing agent at the casino.
I buy all of the food.
Guess I’m more interested to know what other purchasers % averages or what their target % is.

I had a friend who was a Purchasing Agent and she belonged to a Professional Organization for Procurement Managers. I would think someone in that type of club could answer your question better than I could.

Posted on November 25th, 2009 by admin

Try Angelo and Vinci’s in Fullerton by the train station. It’s always decorated and the food is excellent.

What will be the good Disney restaurants to use the Disney Dining Plan vouchers for 1 adult and 2 kids x 4days

Posted on November 23rd, 2009 by admin

Hi, I will be taking 2 kids to Disney later this month, and I was told to make reservations for dining in the restaurants inside the park. We have purchased the meal plan for 4 days. Can someone recommend any good restaurants to experience? The ages of the 2 kids are 5(girl) and 7(boy). Many thanks,
Joann

Here are some of our favorite places to eat. Most are in the parks, some not.

Chef Mickey’s – Contemporary resort. The best character meal around. Food is above average, but Mickey and the gang come right to the table for pictures and autographs. An easy way to make sure you get to see the Mouse.

Sci-Fi Diner in MGM – You sit and eat in a car while watching a black and white Sci-Fi movie. Good food, great atmosphere. My kids love this place.

50’s Prime Time Cafe in MGM – Another great place. Food was really good. Decor is like a 1950’s style house, and your server is either "Mom" or "Auntie" or "Uncle." We ate there on our last trip in April and are planning to do it again in March. You will be told to keep your elbows off the table, and you better eat all your veggies or no dessert! My wife didn’t eat all her veggies and they brought them back to her with whipped cream for her dessert. A lot of fun.

Crystal Palace in the Magic Kingdom – Character meals with Pooh and the gang. Pricey but worth it.

Mexico in Epcot – great food if you like Mexican. Authentic food, great atmosphere, stuff to eat for the little guys (my kids don’t like spicy food.)

Tony’s Town Square in Magic Kingdom – GREAT Italian food. Fun place to eat, based on Lady and the Tramp.

Japan in Epcot – meal is cooked right at your table by your own chef. My kids had a blast.

1900 Park Fare in the Grand Floridian – Character meal with Alice in Wonderland, Mary Poppins and her crew. We are eating Easter dinner here this year.

That is only a few, there are tons of other places to eat. I would suggest going to the Disney website and using the dining finder for each place to eat in each park. Another place for some great info on everything WDW has to offer is the DISboards. The disboards is a message board website all about going to Disney. You can get restaurant reviews, ask questions, get advice, trip reports, resort reviews, tips for avoiding crowds, and much more all for free. I put both links below.

Hope this helps, have a great trip!!

Math Forum Quesion; what is the price for each menu item if purchased individually?

Posted on November 23rd, 2009 by admin

Jack Sprat and his wife like to dine out at their favorite restaurant once a month. Their favorite menu items are the ballad salas platter (delivered with a song), Southern fried chicken pick’ens with green beans, and baked steak with potatoes. they always order 2 of 3 items, sharing the choices.

Two months ago they ordered the steak and chicken dish’s paying a total or $13.40 for their meal. One month later they chose the chicken and salad, paying $10.75 to the cashier. This month, they dined ont the steak and salad, which cost them $13.25.
What is the price for each item ?

** After dinner, The Sprats like to have dessert. Their favorite desserts are ice cream, apple pie, and fresh fruit. the restaurant lists the calories for each desserts, and one night the Sprats made the following observations about their favorite desserts :

- A slice of pie and fresh fruit has a total of 540 calories.
- A bowl of ice cream and the fresh fruit together have 16 fewer calories than a slice of pie.
- Two bowls of ice cream and a slice of pie totals 938 calories.

How many calories are found in each dessert?

Steak and Chcken = $13.40
Chicken and Salad = $10.75
Steak and Salad = $13.25
add the two salad choices together = $ 24.00
subtract (take away) (-) the Steak and Chicken choices = $ 13.40
the answer will give you the cost of two Salads = $ 10.60
halve the cost of 2 (divide by 2) 10.60/2 to get the cost of one Salad $5.30
subtract $ 5.30 from the cost of Chicken and Salad = $ 5.45 for Chicken
subtract $ 5.30 from the cost of Steak and Salad = $ 7.95 for Steak

The second part
Slice of Pie and Fresh Fruit = 540 calories
Ice Cream and Fresh Fruit and 16 calories = calories in 1 Slice of Pie
2 x Ice Cream and I Slice of Pie = 938 calories
Fresh Fruit = 130 calories
Ice Cream = 264 calories
Slice of Pie = 410 calories
Don’t ask me how I did it I was playing around with numbers for hours. It is all to do with balancing numbers and knowing where to add after taking away numbers. Not as easy nor as simple as the first part of this question. The most significant relationship between numbers in this "calculation" is between the Ice Cream and the Slice of Pie.
Good luck

For those currently shopping for home: When you view a place that has been staged, does it bother you?

Posted on November 23rd, 2009 by admin

Do you feel a little bit llike the seller is "cheating" in a way because it’s not how anyone’s home *really* looks? Usually you can tell a place has been staged because they have something like an antique sewing machine in a small bedroom by itself or a café table in the dining room with wine glasses and napkins folded to stick up as high as they possibly can.

Yeah it usually bugs the crap out of me when I see a staged house… I mean, I like a house to be TIDY, and clean, but not like a magazine cover shoot!
I love it when the house is empty, it gives my imagination more room to play with… but then again, I also like a house that looks lived in, even with kids toys all over or something… makes me feel like we could live there comfortably, because look! someone else is!

I don’t really think the seller is "cheating" per se, but I do agree- not many peoples houses look like the staged ones you see on TV!

What is the proper ETIQUETTE when asking a waitress or restaraunt bartender for their phone number?

Posted on November 23rd, 2009 by admin

I was at a restaraunt yesterday, and was dining at the bar. I hit it off with the bartender, but I felt kind of wierd asking for her number while she was working. I also meet alot of cool waitresses and feel the same way…..So how do I flirt and get their number while they are working?

WELL FLIRT WHILE THEY ARE WAITING ON YOU AND THEN SIMPLY LEAVE THEM YOUR NUMBER WITH THE TIP.

Good restaurants/dining experiences in Brisbane for a group of teenage girls?

Posted on November 20th, 2009 by admin

I’ve gotten some great ideas, but wanted more opinions. I was thinking kind of like go out to dinner somewhere cool and interesting. Teppanyaki’s been done, so is there any other cool dining experience that could be done? Dinner shows maybe or any nice restaurant? Price dosen’t matter. Something with a menu that’s not to sophisticated (like not mainly prime beefs and lobster or whatever, if that makes sense) something with a decent range of food for teenagers. But I want it to be pretty classy-ish :S

CityOpen 24 hours

I think this is a fun experience – still packed at midnight

help please? hotel management, menu planning?

Posted on November 20th, 2009 by admin

the most difficult part of the menu to plan is the
a:entree
b:beverage
c: soup
d:appetizer

a food service operation where customers might dine in the facility for several days in a row would likely offer a ___ menu.

a:du jour
b:static
c:cyclical
d:limited

the chief source of food energy is:
a: carbohydrates
b:proteins
c:fats
d:vitamins

when printing menu items, it’s best to:
a: use 0 at the end
b:round off prices
c:have large spreads
d:avoid whole numbers
thanks a lot!
different answers though. I did study, I got all the others. But these I could not get, figure out.

I think the most difficult part of the menu to plan is the entree (what about desserts? As a suggestion, offer desserts from a dessert cart, and offer some flambe items – cherries jubilee, bananas Foster) A static menu would be fine as long as there are different options from which to choose – entrees, appetizers, and of course beverages. Beverages would not be difficult, but appetizers, offer 4 or 5 different types and, entrees, offer 7 or 8. The soup of the day could change daily. Even for customers who might be eating there 3 or 4 times a week, there would still be enough variety in the menu that they wouldn’t get tired of eating there.
As far as the chief source of food energy, all the things you listed are important for a healthy functioning body. Regarding prices, you give the whole dollar amount, but I’m used to seeing 49 or 99 in cents, so yes, avoid whole numbers.
Again, most restaurants I have visited do not have a large spread within each category, appetizers, entrees, etc.
Hope this helps!

Posted on November 20th, 2009 by admin

how much is it to dine with 6 people
1 is 10 all the other ones are 10+ please answer

About $150-$175 includes about a 20% tip if service is good and if the adult meals average $20 dollars. Including drinks not sure about the tax though, I think its 7% don’t quote me on it. BTW have fun its worth it.
