Need help stabilizing a breakfast bar?

Posted on December 22nd, 2009 by admin

I recently had a breakfast bar installed in my kitchen and it is not very stable. There was a 5 1/2 foot wall between my kitchen and dining room that was cut down and a Corian countertop installed. The original wall was attached to another wall at one end and was free standing (ended at an entryway) at the other end. There are brackets supporting the top and it is securely fastened to the wall but the whole wall wobles. Is there any way to stabilize this without adding a leg?

I have resolved issues like this before. Using about 3 foot long sections of threaded rod.
Anchoring the wall to the floor.

How much do plates usually cost at the high end restaurants in Carnival Ecstasy?

Posted on December 20th, 2009 by admin

My wife and I are looking to attend to a romantic evening dinner in one of the fine dining restaurants in our cruise – the ones that require you to dress formal. How much to anticipate in drinks (couple of glasses of wine) and food (starter, meal and dessert)?

There’s a set "service fee", can’t remember exactly what it is, probably $20-30 per person. It’s unclear whether an additional tip is expected [that's a frequent topic of discussion at CruiseCritic.com]. Drinks are extra. I don’t believe you need to dress in formal attire unless that’s the dress code for the night you dine there. I haven’t dined in the premium restaurant on Ecstasy, but did so on the Miracle – WOW! Complete with sunset over Belize!

Have a great cruise!!

How to make an easy tuna salad?

Posted on December 17th, 2009 by admin

I know how to make tuna but mine never looks like the one that’s on the salad bar when dining out. It’s always darker. How do I make mine look and taste like it?
Thanks for all the answers so far! I was anticipating some crazy responses with four letter words in them! Lol.

Ingredients
Can of tuna
Left-over vegetables
Condiments, for example mayonnaise, cocktail sauce etc
Dried spices or herbs

Step 1 Chop your left-over vegetables to a pretty small size (onions, bell pepper, celery and lettuce are all favorites) and put the chopped pieces into a bowl.

Step 2 Open your can of tuna, drain the oil or water out and add the tuna to the bowl.

Step 3 Add about four tablespoons of sauce (favorites include mayonnaise, salsa, mustard and cocktail sauce). Try combining two for a new flavor. If you have them, cut up two hard-boiled eggs and add them to your bowl.

Step 4 Add some salt and season to taste with favorite herbs (try chili powder or dill).

Step 5 Mix everything together and chill for a few hours before serving.

Which cuisines are present in fine-dining restaurants in Manila, Philippines?

Posted on December 12th, 2009 by admin

I am interested in which cuisines (Filipino, Chinese, Italian…etc.) we can find in Manila concerning fine-dining restaurants. Which ones are the most important ones and in what order; if someone could guess and give me an answer specifying it in %, let’s say what percentage of fine-dining restaurants is Chinese, Filipino, French…that would be great.

Thank you for your help in advance.
I also would be glad to find out that what kind of food (which cuisines) local people prefer, and that what tourist in general go for.

are you conducting a survey in terms of marketing and entreprenuerial purpose?…

well,…here’s an advice…filipinos always love there own taste and cuisine…for example they love chickens whether be cooked or marinated,…the best example is that…look at the philippine fastfood giants like jollibee, max’s and mang inasal, they serve wide arrays of filipino tastes and delicacies like adobo, sinigang, kaldereta, pancit…etc. etc.

filipinos in general looooove foods!, and they will eat on whatever they may eat, just look at the streets of manila,…it is hosted with with rampant street foods like fishballs, kikiams, and kwek kwek,…..if you are in the philippines….with the money that you could spend you will never get hungry…

chinese foods are also popular…like pancit, lumpia, siopao, chao-fan

mmmmm…now im hungry

I am looking for the value of a dining room set including hutch, bar and buffet that have black marble tops,?

a table w/6 chairs. These were damaged in water , bought in 1965and need an idea for insurance purposes. They were made by Unique Furniture Makers of Winston–Salem NC.

Your insurance company will only allow a certain book allowance for this. Talk to them and see what they will allow … if you have replacement insurance, then don’t worry about it…just replace it and they will give you the money back.

Cafe Escadrille or Capital Grille?

Posted on December 2nd, 2009 by admin

My Boyfriend`s birthday is coming up real soon and i want to do something really special.i have never been to any of these restraunts bt i know they are down the street from each other (in Burlington MA) & they both have private dining but i know nothing about the food quality or service..i dont know which one is better than the other..can someone help me out please!!!!!!!!!!

Cafe Escadrille is overrated and overpriced. I have had some of the worst service ever in that place.

Capital Grille has great steaks with very attentive service.

Neither is a bargain but Capital Grille is a better value for that level of high-priced meal.

How can smoking ban proposals help businesses?

Posted on December 2nd, 2009 by admin

Is the logic that more non-smokers are going to frequent bars, casinos & dining establishments to replace the smokers? Or do you naively believe that smokers "will see the light" & join hands singing "Cumbah yah!!"
Is there any freedom such as an exception for private clubs?

The plan’s goal appears to be to shame and restrict smokers so heavily that they will be so miserable socially they will quit.

You can not even volunteer at a hospital or hospice if you’re a smoker (even if you don’t smoke on the job). That isn’t going to work.

I don’t think it will help businesses, at least not in the short term. And I agree that business owners should have the right to set their own rules, just as a person who owns a home can set their own personal rules of what goes on under their roof.

What are the inexpensive places to dine out in Dubai?

Posted on December 2nd, 2009 by admin

I am planning to visit Dubai for a couple of weeks. The only thing i can’t compromise is food. Since its a hub for global tourists and the rates are intimidating. But kindly suggest me any good inexpensive restaurants.

So no compromises on the food well actually the food in Dubai is not so expensive. It depends upon the places where you are eating out. You can find some cheapest restaurants providing quality services and food from Dubai Directory of Business and Services.
