Writing Below Grade Level

DJ writing is below her grade level. She needs to develop her organization skills, which can be accomplished by modeling, becoming familiar with transitional words, and hands on experiences. After several models and shared writings, DJ should identify topics of interest to her then web her thoughts about one specific topic. Instead of her writing a rough draft, she may benefit more by first writing each section of her paper, the introduction, body, and conclusion, one step at a time to understand the organization of a paper. Once each section is completed, she should read it to someone and ask him or her if it made sense. Then, her next step would be to write a draft paper.
