If I wanted to open a food oriented business in three years, what would be the best choice?

Posted on November 20th, 2009 by admin

Would it be a Deli, Casual Dining, Bar and Grill, Fast Food, Pizza… What do you think? I am qualified to open many types.

maybe you ought to decide where?
as in what are the top 3 things in real estate? location, location, location.
maybe you don’t want to choose a location that has had 3 businesses fail in the last 3 years, because people just don’t go there.

Where’s a fun area to live in Nashville?

Posted on November 17th, 2009 by admin

I just graduated from UGA and will be moving to Nashville this fall. For anyone familiar with Atlanta… is there an area similar to Buckhead in Nashville? (ie, an area with a lot of bars, dining, and shopping where lots of college grads move to) Or any specific apartment complexes with people around my age? Thanks so much!!

The closest to what you describe is West End (out by Vanderbilt)

The downtown area (near Broadway and the river) has a lot of bars, dining, and shopping, but very little in terms of housing. But, Nashville is different from Atlanta in that it isn’t an hour drive from downtown to the suburbs.

A few years ago, Nashville imposed a three-foot rule for strip clubs.
The clubs got around that rule with the ‘bikini lap dance’

Where is there a GOOD Karaoke bar in H town or a bar that not a DIVE that has a Karaoke nite that isn’t exp.?

Posted on November 13th, 2009 by admin

I live Uptown/in River Oaks near the Galleria Mall so I don’t want to go anywhere in Pasadena, Conroe, Katy, or Humble etc.

I know this doesn’t count as dining out but i thought I’d get more answers here! They need a Nightlife section.

LIVE downtown has fun karaoke nights… On Friday nights after 10… It’s costs $10 to get in but they give it back to you in coupons for 2 free drinks.
I don’t sing but I love to go watch there! People sing all kinds of music!!
They have food and of course a full bar.

Tavern on Grey (my favorite bar) does it on Tuesdays… I’ve never seen it there because I only sit outside when I go there but the bars great so I imagine their Karaoke would be too!!

what is standard height from counter-top bar to bottom of mini-pendant light?

Posted on November 10th, 2009 by admin

should it be the same height as dining table which is about 32 inches?

30 inches is standard – 32 inches is fine. you don’t want seated patrons or family burning themselves especially if they are halogen lamps.

Where are some good places to eat in Melbourne for a single person?

Posted on November 7th, 2009 by admin

I will be in Melbourne, Australia, for business the first 3 weeks of July. In new cities I usually look for good sushi bars; I like the food and they are single-diner friendly. But I also like to eat at the bar in other types of restaurants. Any suggestions for a good dining-at-the-bar place?

‘Sushi Sushi’ has some of the best sushi in Melbourne and is a franchise so you will find it in most food courts throughout the metropolitan area. These are only day time cafes however.

Three great places, which are major places in Melbourne City are;

Melbourne Central has a couple of ‘Sushi Sushi’ cafes as well as a few nice cafe/bars. Enter from Latrobe Street for the cafe/bars, these are open at night too.

Lygon Street is renowned for its Italian restaurants, so if you like Italian food Lygon Street is a must.

Southbank has lots of classy restaurant/bars, so if you don’t mind a bit of a wait and spending a bit of money South Bank is a must.

Hope this helps and I hope you enjoy your stay in Melbourne, if you need any more help feel free to email me.

By the way Ozeki, there are no Taco Bells in Australia, but we do have Taco Bills which I imagine is quite similar.

Studio apartment decorating bar/flap dining room table?

Posted on November 4th, 2009 by admin

So Im moving into a studio apartment that is really small. I dont want to purchase a dinner table for that would just make more clutter. so instead I have decided that I will purchase bar stool and I want to make my own bar. I want to make my own bar but I need it to be able to fold up and down to be put away…kinda like the (old school joking videos where they show the ironing board coming from out the closet?) Anywho If someone could let me know the name of this thing, where to purchase and install gets 10 point serious answers only! greatfully appreciated.

There are brackets at the hardware store or home improvement center to put up a counter for a bar. Also hgtv.com has some sites that might help you. Like Design on a Dime Show does things like that. Hope this helps. Roxanne

Chicago area bar, mafia-like style, have to say password to enter?

Posted on November 2nd, 2009 by admin

my husband mentioned something like a mafia style bar in the chicagoland area, where inside it’s all mafia themed and during the dining experience there is like a shoot out scene kinda or somehting, all the waitstaff is in on it, like a show. but he said when you make your reservation they give you a code word to say at the front door to get in. i don’t know if this place is still around in where it is, but any help would be appreciated. thanks

Where in Houston can I find a carpenter to shorten some dining chair legs?

Posted on October 28th, 2009 by admin

I basically have a high bar stool type dining set, which feels too high. I would like to have the chairs (and maybe even the table) shortened to bring it down to a normal feel. Where and who in Houston offers these services? All help would be appreciated.
Also, any ideas on how much it would cost?

any carpenter or handyman can do the job. as far as the price, you will have to set that up with them.

Is anyone out there a dinner etiquette expert?

Posted on October 26th, 2009 by admin

I am having a couple over for dinner soon and need some advice. We have a small house with only a bar, no dining room table. As this is the case, I am serving a more casual meal. I am serving a delicious Taco Soup (which is always a hit) with a salad and tortillas for dipping and cheese, sour cream, etc. In this case, how would I do place settings? Since it’s a bar and casual, I know I do not want anything formal, but I would still like it to be nice. And what should I use for the tortilla chips(at their place setting)? A small bread plate maybe? Also, any other tips(desserts, etc) for making this a nice affair would be appreciated!

No expert, but I can suggest a few things.
Your Mexican dinner party is casual, no two ways about it, so EMBRACE casual. Put your soup in a big, pretty terrine with a decorative ladle. As for the chips, any sort of ramekin or custard cup. If you want to go all Sandra Lee, head to the craft store and pick up some cheap little flower pots. I’m certain you can find something with a SW theme.

As for desert? Something cooling! Serve berries in cantaloupe halves with some sparkling wine poured over and a nice dollop of whipped cream on top. Or just individual bowls of ice cream you can pre-scoop and leave in freezer until you’re ready for them. Dress the ice cream up with some warm, cinnamoned caramel sauce. Hope this helps.
