I want to tip this waiter at the cafe. How do i go about that?

Posted on February 14th, 2010 by admin

(I HAVE asked this question in the dining out section, but haven’t gotten any answers…Theres probably more people here who can help me out. Haha and it’s SORTA based on LGBT :P )

I Live in Christchurch – New Zealand.
There is this Cafe by the mall that I really enjoyed a dish from.

I’m gonna go there again next week for lunch and I want to tip the male waiter, as he, and the meal were very nice. But what do i Do exactly? The employees are sometimes in the kitchen area, at the counter, or serving plates. Usually all at once, like constantly changing.

Do I hope that the guy comes along to serve my meal, then give him the cash?
Do I finish the meal and then go up to the counter and ask for him or something? xD
Or do i Ask for him to be my waiter then give him the money after he serves me?

PS: I’m Bi btw and think he’s really handsome, polite and was actually smiling. I find it hard to smile when working, doing the same thing over and over, y’ know.
Not that i’m trying to hook up or anything xD Just trying to be polite back. =)

(I’ve never tipped anyone in my life)
I don’t think they have tip jars…

And can you explain how i give the tip? More detail please? Urgh. That’s what i’m trying to find out, gawd :P

If you know his name, request that he be your server, tell them that he gave you great service last time and that you want him to serve you again. After the meal hand him the tip and thank him for his service. when you hand it to him, make sure you hold his hand for just a second too long while thanking him, and also make eye contact with him. These things will make you stand out to him, and the next time you are eating there, he will remember you.

Where to dine in Rome?

Posted on February 2nd, 2010 by admin

Pizza, pasta, coffee etc.

Which eateries and cafes must people go?

Is there any good blog or review on food in Rome?

Just wander the streets and you’ll find a nice place easily. Rome is overflowing with wonderful places to eat, especially around Piazza Navona, Pantheon and the streets between the Pantheon and Trevi fountain. Also Campo dei Fiori is great for eating.

You’ll know the perfect place to eat when you see it.

Cafe Escadrille or Capital Grille?

Posted on December 2nd, 2009 by admin

My Boyfriend`s birthday is coming up real soon and i want to do something really special.i have never been to any of these restraunts bt i know they are down the street from each other (in Burlington MA) & they both have private dining but i know nothing about the food quality or service..i dont know which one is better than the other..can someone help me out please!!!!!!!!!!

Cafe Escadrille is overrated and overpriced. I have had some of the worst service ever in that place.

Capital Grille has great steaks with very attentive service.

Neither is a bargain but Capital Grille is a better value for that level of high-priced meal.

Cool places to dine in the Miami area?

Posted on November 25th, 2009 by admin

I am 18 and my aunt wanted to take me out for a going away dinner before I go to college. I am looking for a cool place to eat. Examples of cool would be Planet Hollywood and Rainforest Cafe. It has to be a family friendly place because joining us are a four year old and a two year old. I was thinking about Taverna Opa but it is too noisy and my brother (a picky eater) does not really have anything he can eat there. I prefer an Italian cuisine, and don’t like Chinese and Japanese food. Any ideas? Location can range from Homestead to Boca.

Chima in Fort Lauderdale. Hard Rock in Hollywood. Lots on Lincoln Road in Miami, and along the "strip" in South Beach.

For those currently shopping for home: When you view a place that has been staged, does it bother you?

Posted on November 23rd, 2009 by admin

Do you feel a little bit llike the seller is "cheating" in a way because it’s not how anyone’s home *really* looks? Usually you can tell a place has been staged because they have something like an antique sewing machine in a small bedroom by itself or a café table in the dining room with wine glasses and napkins folded to stick up as high as they possibly can.

Yeah it usually bugs the crap out of me when I see a staged house… I mean, I like a house to be TIDY, and clean, but not like a magazine cover shoot!
I love it when the house is empty, it gives my imagination more room to play with… but then again, I also like a house that looks lived in, even with kids toys all over or something… makes me feel like we could live there comfortably, because look! someone else is!

I don’t really think the seller is "cheating" per se, but I do agree- not many peoples houses look like the staged ones you see on TV!

help Rainforest Cafe?

Posted on November 20th, 2009 by admin

how much is it to dine with 6 people
1 is 10 all the other ones are 10+ please answer

About $150-$175 includes about a 20% tip if service is good and if the adult meals average $20 dollars. Including drinks not sure about the tax though, I think its 7% don’t quote me on it. BTW have fun its worth it.

Where should I go in Europe?

Posted on November 17th, 2009 by admin

I just reurned from my first Europe trip and fell in love with Amsterdam! I am trying to decide where to go next… I loved the architecture and the blending of cultures. I want my next European destination to include: a laid back atmosphere, lots of cafes and informal dining/shopping options, and beautiful buildings. Where should I go?? Keep in mind, I live in CA and fell in love with Amsterdam!

I love Bergen in Norway… great hanseatic buildings, beautiful nature, quite good food if you are into seafood, several cafes by now and Norwegians take their recreation seriously. But the weather is like Seattle weather…

You might like Paris too. It has great architecture, quite relaxed culture and lots of cafes. My personal favorite in France was the provence region – not a particular city. I found Parisians to be somewhat shallow and obnoxious at times (I think they can be very gender oriented and opinionated).

Rome is nice (lots of history) and so are Sienna, Venice and Florence. Prague, Cesky Krumlov…
