How do i get celebrities and food reviewers /lovers to come and dine at my restaurant?

Posted on October 20th, 2009 by admin

Such as editors , critics etc.

First of all, make sure you are up to it: staff trained, venue ready, the whole thing working like clockwork. Then think of an excuse and throw a party – invite only, obviously – to which you invite local press and and any local celebrities you can think of. Make sure that you have a good number of well-dressed, interesting, well-behaved mates who will arrive a bit early and make the place buzz before anyone else gets there.

Ask a few people you know – honest ones who know about food and the restaurant trade – to give you their honest opinion about every aspect of your restaurant beforehand so you can fix it. If you do succeed in attracting critics and reviewers to your place, you want them to like what they will find. A bad review can close a place quicker than salmonella!

I’m just trying to get some ideas for publicly traded casual dining restaurants or companies whose main business is from casual dining. I wanting to do some research. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Denny’s is 56 years old, and in second place is Cracker Barrel’s at 41 years old.

would you rather dine in a fancy restaurant or eat at the local chippie?

giving the fact that you know what you’re eating
when you buy a nice healthy fish supper from the chippie,
you never know what they chefs put in you’re
meals, so i’m saying it’s better to be safe than
sorry, wot you think,,, ta.
well with the credit crunch an all that
the chippy makes more sense.

I haven’t had a chippie meal in years and I could fairly slaughter one now, lol!

Best dine in Chinese Food restaurant in NYC?

Posted on October 14th, 2009 by admin

I am looking for a classy chinese restaurant in NYC/Chinatown that has a great atmosphere and most important excellent food. I am trying to celebrate someones birthday and they love chinese food.

along Mott St….

*Shanghai Gourmet (above Canal St.)
-Definitely try their "soup" Pork Dumplings and other Shanghai cuisine

*Wonton Garden (below Canal St.)
-Their Wonton Soup is the Best! very very very small dining room

*Tsing Wong (on Bayard St. b/t Mott St. and Elizabeth St.)
-You may of heard Big Wong, same management group, great assortment of HK/Canton Cuisine

Those are the few places Chinatown has to offer.

There’s one place you could try…

* Peking Duck House (22 Mott St. @ Pell St.)
– I have never been here, but have heard great things about it. It’s an upscale restaurant and very busy on the weekends. It definitely looks like a nice place to treat someone on their b-day. ^^

Fine dining restaurant suggestion in Saint Louis area?

Posted on October 12th, 2009 by admin

I’m going on vacation to Saint Louis and we’re planning on having a nice dinner one night. I don’t know the area so I was wondering if anyone had any PERSONAL recommendations for a fine dining restaurant in the city or vicinity. Any type of cuisine is okay, we’re just looking for the type of place where there’s a dress code (you know, nice shirt/tie and dress type thing) and an upscale type environment. Thanks.

Tony’s is a St. Louis landmark and if you are seeking a fine dining experience is good. Also, American Place on Washington Avenue or Sydney Street Cafe in Benton Park. Check out the link below for more ideas. http://www.saucemagazine.com/ go to Find a Restaurant and it will provide a listing by location and/or attributes.

How much should i tip at a fine dining restaurant?

Posted on October 8th, 2009 by admin

this time of year our city has restaurant week. the fine dining restaurants serve 3 course meals for only 35.00 and a portion goes to charity. Do I tip on the 35.00 or do i tip on what the meal would have originally cost?
karen g has a good point. there are special menus and u only choose from them. the actual prices are not listed.

I would tip 20% of the price I paid, which would be the $35. If you want to tip on the original price, no one would be mad at you, but it’s not required or anything.

Just a side note, tip servers in cash, many restaurants around the country are taking a percentage of their tips that are done by credit card to cover part of the processing fee for the card!

What is ur favorite dine in restaurant and how much do u usually spend at the movies?

Posted on October 7th, 2009 by admin

I ask b’cuz I wanted to treat a long distance friend to dinner and a movie w/ a friend of hers who actually lives near her. So I’m going to get her a movie theater giftcard, like for AMC or something. But how much would be enough to put on the card so that two ppl can comfortably enjoy movies and snacks w/o having to use ne of their own money. And a dining gift card but I don’t know what type of food she likes. Like what if I get her a red lobster’s gift card and she’s allergic to seafood? And how much should I put on the dining gift card so her and a friend could enjoy drinks, food, and desert on me?
when I say drinks I don’t mean alchoholic drinks

how about $25 on the movie gift card and $50 on the restaurant gift card, try something where they offer a variety of food like Bennegans, Applebee’s or O’Charleys
