Posted on September 13th, 2009 by admin

Can’t find out much about this very interesting LP. Most likely part of a series – probably lp’s and journals. Mother Number 9 was released in 1968 by the English Dept. at SUNY, Buffalo. Duncan McNaughton and Lewis MacAdams are listed as editors. Readings by Lew Welch, Allen Ginsberg, Tom Clark, Aram Saroyan, Michael McClure and others are inbclude. LP includes a great photo by Jim Dine on the cover. Checked with folks at SUNY and they knew of this.

To Our Gaz

Posted on September 1st, 2009 by admin

Made primarily for http://garyreef.ning.com – shared here with Youtube friends…

A valentine for Gary Reef, Guru

…on behalf of his adoring fans everywhere…

To Our Gaz

More than our Mo loves to paint
And more than our Lisa does too,
More than you crave for Mary to behave
That’s how much we love you.

We love you more than Movie Maker provokes
And more than your PC annoys.
We love you more than You Tube is a bore,
And more than all those gay boys.

More than the depths of the pit of
And more than the heavens above,
We love you more than Jim Dine loved to draw
That’s how much you we love.

We love you more than a diamond is bright
And more than a songbird is free.
We love you more than we could before
When all that we had was YT.

Oh Gary, we love you in so many ways
But we know that you hate a fuss
We know you so well that we know you can tell
Just how much youre loved by us.

Why do some mediocre artists make a concerted effort to disenfranchise Aya Takano, Rory Emerald, and Jim Dine?

Posted on August 26th, 2009 by admin

I think that it is due to the jealousy that often is directed at those who are exceptionally talented and accomplished. I think that that is especially true in the case of the great Rory Emerald.

ROBERT WHITMAN: Performances from the 1960s

Posted on August 23rd, 2009 by admin

Get the DVD at: www.microcinemadvd.com

Robert Whitman created some of the earliest and most important performance works of the 1960s. In his performances, the poetic and often surprising interaction of film, lights, sound, live performers, props, and objects that take on a life of their own create a dense visual, non-narrative dramatic structure.
This DVD captures for the viewer important and seminal examples of this ephemeral art form. It makes available for the first time original recordings of three of Whitman’s 1960s performances and documents the creative thinking of an innovative artist — and the artistic climate of the time.

Included is original footage of The American Moon (1960) and Flower (1963), both filmed by Whitman as notes to himself, and short documentaries about the works — featuring interviews with Trisha Brown, Jim Dine, Simone Forti, Claes Oldenburg, Lucas Samaras, and the artist. A recent performance of Prune Flat (1965) is accompanied by an interview with Whitman on the piece. A bonus video presents Ghost, Whitman’s recent theater work, first performed in September 2002, with notes by Lynne Cooke and Arne Glimcher.

CoolGlobes – Hot Ideas for a Cooler Planet

Posted on August 20th, 2009 by admin

From June-September 2007, the City of Chicago will host “CoolGlobes” an innovative public art project to inspire individuals and organizations to take action against global warming.

The exhibit features over 120 sculpted globes, each five feet in diameter, displayed along Chicago’s lakefront. Artists from around the world, including Jim Dine, Yair Engel, Tom Van Sant and Juame Plensa, designed the globes, using a variety of materials to transform their plain white sphere to create awareness and provoke discussion about potential solutions to global warming.
