Do fast-food or dine-in restaurant employees/workers/waiters/waitresses care if I use a coupon?

I’m always paranoid that they will do something to my food if I use a coupon, because I’m thinking they will be pissed off that they think they will get less tip since the amount is less, or they’re just pissed that I’m using a coupon because they think I’m a cheapskate?

I’m a cook in a restaurant, fast casual, I personally have never spit in anyones food. Don’t mention the coupon until you’re ready to pay, AND BE SURE TO TIP!! 20% at least. Servers don’t like coupons since it takes them two more seconds with you, but it’s part of their job, generally they don’t say a word about it.

Most workers are smart enough to know that the coupon got you in the door and they would be worse off without you. These days especially, full service restaurants are hurting badly and need to use coupons and the such to attract any business. Everyone is doing it and you are deffinately not the only one using the coupons. I would however suggest that if you use a coupon try to add tip up to the amount the meal would have cost. In fast food they are used to it and it is just a little more time consuming but most don’t care.

Actually, the first answer said wait until the end of the meal to tell them…thats more irritating then someone having a coupon. We have a birthday club and it states on the card to give it to your server when ordering. It makes it easier for us because we can start pricing the bill while your eating.

It wastes a lot of time to fill out the check and bring it to the table and THEN they tell you they have a percentage off card, because we then have to re-write the whole bill.

So basically, no we arent upset over receiving them. Most people know to tip off the original bill..its just much more helpful to know up front, like split checks, then to wait until the bill comes to tell us.

They are OK with it, and should be OK with it。
