If you were asked to go ‘Come Dine with me’?

Posted on January 19th, 2010 by admin

What would be your menu and why?

Well I would start with a spicy soup to arouse the appetite, eg a chilli and garlic broth

Main course would be monkish based as no bones for guests to fiddle with or at this time of year, some game

Pudding would be a fresh and exciting fruit salad followed by a good and varied selection of cheese and biscuits

Obviously one should bear in mind the guests’ dietary preferences, eg, veggie, halal, kosher etc. Also do not assume that all veggies live on mushrooms and goats’ cheese. That is a restaurant hang-up!

I would start off in the lounge with some canapes and their choice of alcohol
then starter would be a seared scallop wrapped in parma ham served or alternatively a king prawn skewered with satay sauce and malaysian mango salad (because I love seafood, the salad would be good for any vegetarians_
the main course would be a vegetable/chicken green curry served with steamed jasmine rice (because I love thai food and this is relatively simple to make and takes little time)
finally dessert would be a lychee cheesecake with mango ice cream (because it’s light and exotic and the lychees count as one of your five a day :P ) otherwise I would go down the tempting and very unhealthy route of serving a chocolate souffle with chocolate fudge (because I love chocolate and the fudge recipe is also quite easy to make can be prepared earlier and I’ve done it for years!)

A would begin with a cup of New England Clam Chowder
For my Entree’ I would have Steamed Lobster, a baked potato and corn-on-the-cob
For dessert I would go for Creme Brulee’ and then a long walk on the beach

Why? Because I’m a New England girl and nothing is more special to me than eating a traditional seafood dinner and watching the waves crash upon the rocky coastline with the love of my life (my hubby of 30 years).
