It is good dining etiquette to eat the "decors" in your main menu, i.e., the carved carrot, lettuce, etc.

I sometimes find it irresistible to eat that piece of lettuce or parsley on the side of my main course plate.
If it was on the plate it’s ok to eat it! Bon appetit!
P.S. Parsley is very underappreciated as an extremely healthy vegetable . . . or herb . . . or whatever it is!

Kale, bright shiny lettuce like leaf, is used to add color to the plate as it appears better to the guest, also a filler to make the plate appear full of food. You can eat it but most do not.

I would say most people don’t eat the garnish. But,I am a huge cooking reality show fan…and the thing I always hear on them is that the garnish should always be edible. So, if you like ti…eat away!
