Should we favor breed bans?

Although most cities and counties do not favor breed bans, most agencies do have some type of dangerous dog or vicious dog ordinances to protect communities from dangerous or vicious dogs. In most cities, if a dog has already attacked another animal or a human being, the dog owner would have to take various precautionary steps. This could include building additional barriers, muzzling the dog in public and building enclosures so that the dog does not get out and hurt people. In Washington State, it is the dog owner’s responsibility to make sure that his or her pets do not injure other people or animals. Dog owners whose pets injure others could be held financially responsible for injuries caused.
